Most often, an estimate requires both Steve and Larry, the owners, to visit to visit your project site and it may involve several face-to-face discussions. Larry does all project estimates. You deal directly with the contractor, to build a good, solid communication on your exact needs, wants and budget.
Here are a few tips that will make the estimate more accurate and the process faster:
- Gather pictures from magazines similar to what you want. The more detail you can decide upon, the more accurate the estimate.
- Have a list of questions on topics that you need contractor advice.
- Allow a sufficient timeframe for the project.
- Be prepared to discuss alternatives and project trade-off. For example, develop some idea of good, better, best in floor coverings, bathroom fixtures, and light fixtures. Then you can get the best cost-benefit ratio for your project.
